A Licensed Texas Real Estate Broker, Thompson’s breadth of commercial real estate experience focuses on representing Tenants, Buyers and Sellers in commercial real estate transactions. Having served clients under national platforms and locally, he has been involved in build-to-suit developments, dispositions and has negotiated leases totaling over 2.4 million square feet and valued at more than $50 million. Realized Savings for his clients have surpassed $4 million. In addition, he has provided Corporate Real Estate Services for national clients, managing real estate portfolios comprising of over 1,000,000 square feet of office, data center, retail, light industrial and warehouse complexes.

Having grown up in Myrtle Beach, SC, he has resided in Houston for the past 29 years, a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, a graduate of the University of Houston, married and has 3 children.

Interests include youth sports for his children, Houston Cougar Sports, MS150, Triathlons, Golf, Fishing, SCUBA, Surfing and traveling adventures with the family.

Mike Taylor has over 25 years of senior/executive management experience in banking, real estate, retail development, and construction, real estate asset dispositions, real estate focused legal services, and business development.

Mr. Taylor served as Real Estate Manager and Executive Director of Administration for Bank United, the largest Texas-based financial institution as well as General Counsel for two publicly traded companies.  In his role of Executive Director of Administrative Services for Bank United, he directed one of the largest single institutional retail expansions in Texas banking history expanding the Bank United retail branch network from 64 to 220 branch locations in less than three years.  As a direct result of this expansion and Bank United’s rise to number three in deposit share among all financial institutions operating in Texas, Bank United was acquired at a premium by Washington Mutual, the fourth largest US bank holding company at the time of such acquisition.

Upon the acquisition of Bank United by Washington Mutual (WaMu), Mr. Taylor pursued an opportunity to become General Counsel and SVP of Business Development with AmReit, Inc. where he replicated his success at Bank United personally negotiating the acquisition of over 200 Texas retail banking sites aggregating in excess of $210mm in value for numerous national and superregional financial institutions including, WaMu, Chase, Wachovia, Franklin Bank, SouthTrust Bank, Whitney Bank, and Trustmark Bank.

In addition to the above, Mr. Taylor served as General Counsel of Whitestone REIT, an NYSE listed REIT with property holdings in Texas, IIlinois, and Arizona where he directed the acquisition of over $100mm in retail and office properties on an accelerated basis.   Mr. Taylor also served as managing principal of Spring Cypress LLC a Houston-based Class A retail developer.

Mr. Taylor currently maintains an active real estate and legal practice focused on retail, industrial and office real estate.   He earned his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi, is licensed to practice law in Texas and Mississippi and is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker.  He resides in Cypress, Texas with his wife Virginia and his two daughters, Anna Claire and Caroline.
